One of New England’s earliest photojournalists, Arthur Griffin (1903-2001) worked at The Boston Globe before and after shooting for LIFE. As a native of Massachusetts, he was proud to have taken the first color photograph of the great Red Sox slugger Ted Williams, in 1939, and he was also known for his landscape photography of the region.<\/span><\/p>\n
